Syncplicity is designed to work transparently with typical firewall configurations and use OS proxy configuration settings to communicate with the internet.
In cases where you have a more restrictive environment or need to manually configure your firewall or security settings, below is information on what ports and subdomains Syncplicity uses.
Ports
All data is sent through SSL (port 443) with AES-256 encryption to ensure the highest level of security.
The main www.syncplicity.com website uses standard HTTP (port 80) but this is not required for standard operation of the client or my.syncplicity.com site access.
Subdomains
Below is a list of sites that must be allowed access through the firewall
- *.syncplicity.com
- (Preferred) *.syncp.com
Specific site lists are problematic as the Syncplicity service is designed to dynamically load balance clients against a dynamically scaled cluster of backend servers. This list changes dynamically for load with data center load. Syncplicity servers are distributed across the US for increased redundancy, so there is not a single set of IP addresses which can also be whitelisted.
Firewalls
Be sure syncplicity.exe is allowed to contact the internet by any desktop firewalls.
